South Sherman Just Got Its Next Big Piece of the Puzzle
Big news for south Sherman. Sherman ISD just picked the site for its next elementary school, 21.6 acres along West Travis Street near North Gate Drive. 🏗️
District leaders looked at almost a dozen locations before landing on this one. A few reasons why:
📍 Easy access for families and traffic flow
🔌 Infrastructure already nearby, which keeps costs down
🗺️ Minimal impact on current attendance zones
The project is funded through the 2023 bond package and set to open in fall of 2028. Once it's up and running, the existing Dillingham Elementary will convert into a middle school as part of the district's longer term growth plan.
This is exactly the kind of thing that comes with a town growing as fast as ours. New families, new construction, and now new infrastructure to match. It's one more sign that south Sherman is a part of town worth watching closely if you're thinking about where to plant roots next.
