Hey Friends,

Sherman is buzzing this week. TxDOT is finally looking at widening FM 1417, and whether it happens comes down to how many of us actually speak up before the deadline. We've got a classic 1900 craftsman with a backyard pool that's basically begging for a summer party, a video worth watching before you ever sign on new construction, and a BBQ joint that's been smoking Texoma's best ribs for two decades. Plus dinosaurs, goats, and a full lineup of things to do around town this weekend.

🚧 FM 1417 Could Finally Get Widened, But Only If Sherman Speaks Up

Phase Two of the FM 1417 project would widen the road from Highway 56 to the high school, adding a lane in each direction, a concrete median, and sidewalks for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

Here's the thing: the project is shovel ready. TxDOT just needs to see enough public comments before the August 3rd deadline to move the funding forward.

📍 What Phase Two includes:

  • An added lane in each direction

  • A concrete median down the middle

  • Sidewalks for pedestrians and cyclists
